A boat-filled non-party.

Saturday 10:30

By: Josh Knight

It's probably not a big surprise to anyone reading this that I'm living on a boat. It's not a big surprise because I talk about it constantly - some may say incessantly. Jeremy would say incessantly. It's certainly not a particularly glamorous way to live - and much less so after last night's rain - but I still want to have a little "thing" over there sometime. It really can't be a party, because it's way too small, but it's definitely big enough for a thing - maybe a few liquid refreshments and a pretzel or two.

I think you might find the boat interesting for about 10 minutes - just long enough to say "this guy actually lives here - weird." So, here's what I'm thinking instead. Ready...

There's a beach about 3 minute walk from the boat, and there's a kayak rental shop at the beach. I'm thinking maybe we gather around 10:30 or so, before it gets too windy, and go paddle around for a while. It's 15 dollars per 1/2 hour, I think. They have a million kayaks, but it might be worth a call to reserve one. Here's their site.

Anyway, so we'll paddle around for a bit, maybe an hour or 2, then head over to the boat for a beverage and some music. My friend Brendan will probably be coming down with his guitar. He'll probably play a bit too. (He's pretty good. Here's his myspace page if you're interested.

So, then, after 4 or 5 minutes of that, we can walk down to some sort of Sausalito festivity. There's a pretty good restaurant/bar thing with a waterfront patio about 8 walking minutes away.

So, that's the afternoon part.

If anyone is up for it, Brendan and I are going to be playing in Napa later that night at another little bar/restaurant. I think we'll probably start at 8'oclock or so. They have beer and wine, and it's free. So, you're all more than welcome to join for that as well.

And that's all I have for this Saturday.

[It took me forever to build this comment thing below, so I'd love it if you want to use it, but you can also just let me know if you can come or not. Oh, and the email thing is kind of confusing. Basically, if you want to get an update when someone leaves a comment, put in your email address, otherwise you can just skip it. You only need to do it once.]

Here's a map to my place. Just call when you get there and I'll guide you into a parking spot.

Aye aye, matey. $15 per half hour for a kayak? Has "kayak" become code for "prostitute?" Never mind, maybe it's a Sausalito thing. Verily, methinks your itinerary be totally, um, good. I'll report for duty in my sailor suit at 10:30am sharp on Saturday. I actually haven't been to Sausalito or navigated the placid waters of Richardson Bay for quite some time.

Jeremy

Yes, Kayak = Prostitute. We'll be doing some heavy "paddling" in some "rough seas". These kayaks come in "one-man" or "two-man" models and always require a "life jacket".

Josh, Can I rent one of those bike-boat things there? And will someone else rent one too so I don't feel like some sort of floating pee-wee herman?

Josh

You know what, I think it's actually 15 dollars per hour. I messed up. And, Jere, I think they do have those floating bike things nearby. And, I might try one with you, but I'm not sure I can help with the Pee-Wee Herman feelings.

Brendan

Well... Be sure to note that the beer and wine is not free at the Napa show... in fact it might be a little over-priced.... fit for a prostitute I guess. I'm pretty sure they rent row-boats for anyone who would like to take boating to the next level... I will be bringing my own since there is no way I will pay to look like pee-wee in a purple paddle boat.
So Josh... should Bring you some tarps for that leaky old thing?

Josh

I think we'd all chip in to see Brendan ride around in one of those floating bike things. Oh, and no need for boat tarps yet - I'm going to wait for the pnemonia to settle in first.
